ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior coordinates undergraduate and graduate education in the behavioral sciences, behavioral aspects of medicine and clinical psychiatry. It is also involved in teaching programs in clinical psychology, clinical pharmacology, biomedical ethics and other disciplines.

The department has the largest and best-supported research enterprise in the Brown School of Medicine. Its contribution to the Brain Science Program includes a multifaceted effort to understand chronic depression, development in infants at risk and evaluate treatment protocols, as well as the nation's premier research program in adolescent sleep.
